Black Web 2.0: Bishop Weeks launches Reality Webisode to find new Wife

  • WriteBlack · 1 year ago
    "Creeped out a little?"

    You're generous.

Weeks' gambit for continued fame is zombies-in-the-daytime, R.Kelly-talks-about-teen-girls, slimy-aliens-in-a-horror-flick creepy.

Especially since there's a credible allegation that the man is an abuser.

That said, I agree that it would be nice if someone could find a way to fuse the things that work about the various black dating sites while jettisoning the stuff that doesn't work.

Just when I was starting to believe him. Now you know he is clearly head tripping!

    Great post Jade!

@WriteBlack Ouch. I do agree it is more than creepy, something about it just doesn't feel right. I get his quest for companionship but why on the internet and not in the church? :|

When talking about black relationships online don't forget about the critically acclaimed (in my mind) Blackandmarriedwithkids.com you won't get any Bishop Weeks type stuff but you'll get all of the good relationship and parenting scoop.

Bishop Weeks is not looking for a wife, but trying to open up the airwaves to get people talking about future mates what to look for in both sexes, how to look for Godly relationships...The title "Who will be the next Mrs. Weeks" is nothing but a catch faze and it caught a lot of people. It also accomplished its goal to get people talking. I will say this; this is the first blog where someone (obviously intelligent) figured that out. For everyone else please see the disclaimer on the ad for WWBTNMRS.Weeks. It says that this is for discussing/dialoging ONLY and not a forum for mate finding or dating.

Unfortunately for the good "Bishop" he failed to reserve the domain name for MrsBishopWeeks.com so some clever person *cough* decided to skip a couple of meals at Cheddars and set up an anti domestic violence website at MrsBishopWeeks.com. To say he is claiming to be in the business of web site design it is a wonder he would name a contest and not reserve the domain name. Oh well.

@ everyone thanks for all the comments and links. Links always make me happy.

http://mrsbishopweeks.com/ < Awesome. That is actually hilarious to me.

And yes, I am a little bit more creedped out than I let on, but I was trying not to slam him too hard. I get the "business model" though.

and lol @ Angela, he talks about why not in the church in his first video. Something about global blah blah and finding the right so and so. It is interesting... I think is the word I shall use.

Okay you can look at this in different way:

    1. Its a business move to one promote his church and to sell more books, cd and digital downloads. He's getting a good push from the press about this.

    2. In the church market he is being a digital hustler. I don't see anybody in the religious community has stepping out in web realm in this way by: (A) making a reality show. (B) making inroads to a different type of demographic.

The people he is going to come in contact with are not going to be the same people that will go to his church.

    3. He will get some type of momentum by doing these webisodes. Maybe even find another punching bag (I mean wife).

I don't agree with him or what he did to his wife or what they did to each other. However as a business move he will be a monetize what he is doing by adding new viewers and new people to his congregation. Now his next move will probably getting on Twitter, Facebook, 15 Seconds and Seesmic.

If he does people may need to watch out. Bishop Weeks probably has a song is head saying "Nobody on the corner got Swagger Like Weeks... Swagger like Weeks ... Swagger like Weeks."

So sad what has become of some of my people... This brother needs to repent, as I for one will not be supporting him... As for black dating sites in general, they are all the same...

In summary, why do people fall prey so easily? Anyone can claim to be serving the lord, etc...
