No, that's definitely a hack. Black Planet users don't have the ability to post forum topics like these guys did. Only BP administrators can. Users can only click on a topic and enter their opinion within the forum, not actually create one.

@Orinthea Smith -- BP is still very much a major player and it Black Voices, and BET are still the top trafficked "African-American" sites. What makes BP even more relevant, as of late, is that it was purchased by Radio One/Interactive One and bundled into its overall Web strategy.

This is not a hack, it is spam. There is a 'Start a New Topic" button right in the graphic that the article provides. Any member can start a new topic.
So sure, someone can register for BlackPlanet.com and post spam in forums. That is quite possible, That has nothing to do with member information being compromised. It is annoying, but it is not a serious security threat.
