Black Web 2.0: James Andrews leaves Ketchum Digital to launch EVERYWHERE

  • Lauren · 4 months ago
I never get what he does. I have only seen him name drop celebrities and do webcast via Twitter. Nothing notable or agency worthy. But, I am excited for him and will be looking to see what he does past his video/webcast and talk about his celebrity friends.

James Andrew is a POWER PLAYER. Few do it better. We should all take note of James and his partners move from the "Plantation" to the work their own fields.

To Everywhere - much respect and God's speed.

As a digital entrepreneur who made the leap 6 years ago, let me say that leaving a position with a rolodex and some early high-profile clientele is fine for the first 2-3 years. After that, sustaining a profitable business beyond managing hired technical staff can be challenging (and not a business floated on savings and friend-vestors). As a software engineer who later obtained business training, I have seen so many quasi-technical business principles (you know, those that can write a macro in Microsoft Excel or embed a video in Adobe Dreamweaver) launch web sites and SaaS plumbing and then sit impatiently for revenue and the black. All the time reliant upon the technical tit of IT staff to sustain infrastructure and continue to innovate (both in hardware and software). Unfortunately, the clock ticks and pay checks need to be written.

I sincerely wish James the best in his new endeavor but as Barak says, "...we need people to invent things again!" The Chinese and Indians are not inventing around spreadsheets, MS Powerpoint slides and me-too business models. They are inventing around algorithms, data structures, nano technology and the like. This is the entrepreneurial granularity we need to convey to the Black Web 2.0 generation and celebrate. Best wishes!
